What to do when someone dies

When someone dies, it can be a stressful and upsetting time. As well as coping with the emotional stress that a death may bring, there are also several important legal requirements and other responsibilities which need to be managed.

To help during this difficult time, the Kent Registration Service (KCC) has produced a new booklet to guide bereaved people in Kent through the process of registering a death and to highlight and advise on the various other issues that might need to be considered.

The booklet, entitled ‘What to do when someone dies’, is designed to cover many important issues including the potential involvement of the coroner, what documentation needs to be brought to register the death, what to consider for funeral arrangements and sorting out the estate.

In addition, the guide highlights various organisations that can offer help and support in coping with bereavement.
