This shoot focuses on male and female icons in music, creating wedding looks inspired by each icon. Lou Finn from Bake to the Future tells us how she did it:
Courtney Love Courtney Love is rock and roll personified. Totally kick ass, full of grit and attitude. So of course, she needed two mustangs. Her ‘don’t care’ attitude breaks the mould of the clean-cut bride. Go for boots over heels, think about wearing leggings or tights under your dress to add some grunge to the look, think about jewellery and hair accessories, and your dress doesn’t have to be completely white either, you can add some colour in there. A fantastic jacket adds a rock and roll edge to the whole look and a personalised one makes a great wearable keepsake of your special day.
Annie Lennox Annie Lennox is androgynous and beautiful. Confident, quirky, fashion forward. This look represents those who don’t want the usual dress and high heels for their special day. A trouser suit can look so fantastic. You can accessorise with belts or add a really nice shirt, you can wear a tie to fit your colour scheme. And you definitely can wear flat shoes. Short hair with a cathedral veil looks stunning, think about going for a buttonhole rather than a bouquet – or as well as.
Lady Gaga Lady Gaga is avant-garde, fashionable and relevant. She’s dark with a very elegant touch. Fashion forward and alternative but in a very unique and classy way. This look is all about the accessories. The fabulous hairpiece, the amazing shoulder cape with the feather detailing, stunning jewellery and some really original ways to incorporate florals. This look is all about being uniquely you, finding new and different ways to feature traditional elements and combining them with the non-traditional.
Prince Prince – moody couture at its finest. You can really push the envelope with your clothing choices for this look. You can go with different fabrics such as the velvet jacket used in this shoot. Black, deep reds and purples work perfectly together – your colour scheme can be incorporated across your look, from the outfit to the décor. Find a really good menswear designer, talk about your ideas and have something custom made to your requirements. It is absolutely worth it to create something truly unique and inspired by you. There are so many alternatives to the traditional suit and tie, different fabrics and styles.
Madonna Madonna is youthful and fun with a bit of an edge but still colourful and vibrant. Bright colours can be used so well as a wedding theme without being overwhelming. Little touches such as a bright ribbon on your colourful bouquet, going with a red lipstick and pairing a bespoke leather jacket with a simple white dress immediately adds a rock and roll edge to the look. For super fun ways to include your guests in the spirit of the Queen of Pop, you can hire a popcorn machine or even a candy floss one for your evening reception.
